EzChargez is designed to work with any battery electric vehicle (BEV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) currently sold in the United States. Whether you drive a Tesla, a Ford, a Chevrolet, a Rivian, a BMW, a Hyundai, a Nissan, or something else entirely, you'll be able to find compatible hosts on the platform.
Connector types explained
The two main connector standards you'll encounter on host listings are:
- J1772 — the standard connector used by most non-Tesla EVs sold in North America for Level 1 and Level 2 charging.
- NACS (North American Charging Standard) — originally the Tesla-proprietary connector, now being adopted industry-wide. Many newer vehicles from other automakers are shipping with NACS ports or NACS adapters.
Every host listing specifies which connector type their charger uses, and many hosts also note if they keep an adapter on hand for visiting drivers with a different connector.
Setting up your vehicle profile
When you create your driver account, you'll be prompted to enter your vehicle's make, model, and trim. This lets EzChargez:
- Automatically filter out incompatible listings
- Estimate charging time and cost specific to your battery size and onboard charger
- Warn you if a host's connector doesn't match your vehicle without an adapter
Updating or adding vehicles
You can update your vehicle profile any time from the Account tab, and multi-vehicle households can save more than one profile and switch between them when booking. If you're ever unsure whether a specific host's setup will work with your car, you can always message the host directly before booking to confirm.
Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs)
If you drive a plug-in hybrid rather than a full battery-electric vehicle, EzChargez works exactly the same way — PHEVs typically use the same J1772 connector as most non-Tesla BEVs, and your smaller battery pack often means shorter, cheaper sessions. Just make sure your vehicle profile correctly reflects your PHEV's battery size so time and cost estimates stay accurate.
